Hands over sanction orders to 17 beneficiaries for pensions, scholarships 

ANANTNAG: On occasion of roll out of Special Assistance Scheme for Covid Mortalities (SASCM), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla on Wednesday handed over sanction orders of assistance to seventeen (17) beneficiaries in the district. 

Under the scheme, cash assistance of Rs 1000 per month shall be provided to spouse and the eldest member of the family. 

10 beneficiaries were given educational assistance (scholarships) while, 07 beneficiaries will receive a monthly pension of Rs 1000 per month from the month their sole bread earner died of Covid-19.

Regarding scholarships, 03 college going students were given sanction orders for Rs 40000 while as seven 07 school going students shall receive Rs 20000 as annual assistance.

On the occasion, the DC said that the scheme has been launched on the directions of Lieutenant Governor to identify and support covid affected families in the spirit of leaving no one behind.

DDC Chairman, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi, Tehsil Social Welfare Officers and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
