CUK’s Law deptt organises speech competition

GANDERBAL: Law Society, Deptt of Law, School of Legal Studies (SLS), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a speech competition for the students on “Law & Forensic Science: An Interface” at varsity’s Tulmulla campus.

In his address, Head and Dean SLS, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir said, “the competition provided a platform to explore the interplay between these two disciplines and shed light on their collaborative potential in the legal system.” He said that good speech and writing are two important tools of a lawyer and one must be proficient in both. Dean SLS, emphasised over the use of English language for the purpose of increasing competition between the lawyers and asked the faculty and student organizers to hold such events frequently so that the students will improve their skills and analytical thinking.

Law Society and Event convener, Assistant Prof. Dr. Mudasir Bhat asked the students to participate in such events to bring forth their competitive spirit which will ultimately help them to discover their passions and interests, expand their knowledge and broaden their horizons. “Through preparations, the students cultivate critical thinking skills and learn to organize their thoughts effectively.”

The competition witnessed participation from students of different semesters who showcased their expertise and analytical skills through their arguments.

The event was presided over by the four jury members, including Dean School of Education Prof. (Dr.) Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Asst Professors, Dr. Firdous Ahmad Sofal, Er. Afaq Alam, and Dr. Ibraq Khurshid who determined the winners on their articulation, research, and ability to construct persuasive arguments.

Shahid Ahmad Dar and Ahmad Mujtaba from BA.LLB 6th and 2nd semester bagged the first and second positions respectively and were facilitated by the jury.

Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Geelani also spoke on the occasion and Asst Prof. Dr Anil Kumar, proposed the vote of thanks. Asst Professors Dr. Imran Ahad and Insha Yasin were rapporteur of the event.
