CUK’S IT deptt holds organises “TechFest – 2021”

Ganderbal: Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah inaugurated “Tech Fest – 2021”, a one-week technical festival for the students of the varsity at Department of Information Technology, Tulmulla here. The event is being organised by the Department’s IT students club: CodeSquad.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah said, “I am happy to know that the School of Engineering and Technology (SoET) has come up with such an innovative thought of organising the event. Technology indeed is not limited to people belonging to the technological background but to the entire society.”

He reiterated that the youth of the country are the ones who will drive the future by innovation and this festival will provide them a platform to build that future. Prof. Farooq Shah asked participants to constantly pursue their ideas, no matter how difficult it might seem to take it forward as it is persistence that leads to logical outcome.

Registrar, Prof. M. Afzal Zargar congratulated the Department for organising such an event which attracted students across the varsity. He asked the organisers to ensure that innovative ideas that will shape the future are identified and pursued further. He focused on the importance of innovation as enshrined in the National Innovation and Start up Policy (NISP) & the role youth has to play in it. Prof. Zargar asked the organisers to take up at least five best ideas to the innovation club so that the University can further help the students to groom and polish such ideas and to create a culture where youth focus on Start-Ups, helping the economy to thrive.

Dean, SoET, Dr. M Ahsan Chishti, welcomed all the participants and apprised the members that the Department is holding first such event and will continue to organise more events of such nature on a larger scale.

Er. AfaqAlam Khan, Head – Department, conducted the event proceedings while as Er. Amjed Hussain proposed the vote of thanks. The events scheduled are Competitive programming, debugging, innovation and future, Mock interviews and e-sports. The event has more than 300 registrations.
