CRPF man killed In Pulwama gunfight, searches on

SRINAGAR: A paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was killed in a gunfight with militants in Barpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

Reports said that the gunfight began around midnight after a joint team of 55 RR, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir and 182 Bn CRPF cordoned off Chinar bagh, Mohalla Takya in Barpora.

A source said that the exchange of fire has stopped and that the searches were going on in the area. He said the militants, believed to be three in number, might have escaped.

The source said a CRPF trooper injured in initial exchange of fire has succumbed. He was identified as Mandeep Kumar of 182 BN CRPF.
