Railways to bear 85 pc fare, states 15 pc: Govt on migrants’ travel

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Monday said it never talked about talked about charging migrant workers who are headed home in trains. “85 per cent fare will be borne by the Railways, while 15 per cent by state governments, it said.

“We advised that people must stay wherever they are during lockdown but in special cases allowed trains to function, the government said.

Addressing the daily briefing on Covid-19 pandemic, a Health Ministry official said the recovery rate was at 27.52 per cent with 11,706 COVID-19 patients cured till now.

In last 24 hours, 1,074 COVID-19 patients have recovered; highest number of recoveries in one day, it added.

“COVID-19 curve relatively flat as of now; if we work collectively peak may not come, but if we fail we may see spike in cases,” the Health Ministry added.
