Commissioner SMC reviews centrally sponsored Scheme (AMRUT), conducts city tour

Srinagar June 9: After assuming charge of Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai chaired meeting to review the   progress of various projects being executed under AMRUT and JTPRF here at Municipal central office Karan Nagar.

During the course of meeting various components of AMRUT including storm water drainage at different places in Srinagar, sewerage and seepage, Urban Transportation, Development of Multi level parking and Green spaces were reviewed at length.

It was informed in the meeting that total number of thirty projects have been identified under AMRUT.

Out of these thirty ,twenty nine projects have been tendered in which 27 stands allotted that includes three sewerage and septage,10 urban transport,6 drainage, 6 green spaces, and 1 each under water works and Rejuvenation.

Commissioner was also apprised that five projects have got completed including storm water drainage Mallbagh, storm water drainage Gangbugh, Extension of Tulip Garden, Development of Park/ Green space(Bemina Park) Idle Park at Pantha Chowk.

Sanai further reviewed status of reforms under AMRUT and status of NOC’s to be sought from other departments.

The meeting was also informed that 19 projects are under execution.

Among others meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner Adm Syed Abul Qasim, Joint Commissioner Works SMC, S.E Drainage circle, Deputy Director P&M SMC, Exn Right River Works, Exn left River Works, Exn CDC SMC, Exn S&D II, Exn MCD,  Exn Mechanical SMC, Nodal officers / representatives of SDA,LAWDA, Floriculture Kashmir, UEED and others.

Meanwhile Commissioner SMC tour the city to take stock of Sanitation, Removal of encroachments, developmental activities, functionality of fountains, dewatering stations and other civic services.

Sanai who began his tour from Jahangir Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, Karan Nagar, Lal chowk, Batamaloo was accompanied by Superintending Engineer, Drainage Circle, Executive Engineer LRWD, RRWD, Mech, CDC, MCD, S&D-II, Electric, along with concerned AEE,s , Health Officer SMC, Chief Sanitation Officer,  Chief Enforcement Officer, and other Senior Officers of the Corporation.

At Hari Singh High Street, he reviewed functionality of Dewatering station and present status of Municipal Shopping complex at Jahangir Chowk.

Sanai has issued directions to devise a long term strategy for extensive anti encroachment drives for smooth functioning of vehicular movement and pedestrians space in encroached areas including Lal chowk, Mahrak bazaar, Hari Singh High Street, Batamaloo.

Commissioner also visited LD and SMHS Hospital to review sanitation and directed the sanitation wing of SMC to conduct special sanitation drives in all the hospitals of the city phase wise.
