Sets fresh deadlines for completion of 39 projects worth Rs. 185.53 crore
JAMMU: Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Higher Education, Talat Parvez Rohella today set fresh deadlines for various projects of the department being executed under Languishing projects scheme.
He was chairing a meeting of the stakeholders and executing agencies to review progress of various projects undertaken by the Department under the scheme.
In all, 39 projects worth Rs. 18553.89 Lakh of the Department are at different stages of execution. These projects were to be completed within 18 months from the date of sanction.
The Commissioner Secretary, while taking note of the Quarantine Centres established in the Higher Education institutions and the limited supply of the construction material, agreed to the request of the stakeholders and the executing agencies to revise the completion schedule and issued fresh deadlines for the same.
The Com Secy set December 2020 deadline for 10 projects costing Rs 2884.44 lakh, March 2021 for 12 projects being executed at a cost of Rs 4294.19 lakh; June 2021 for 10 other projects costing Rs 4979.99 Lakh, besides December 2021 for 7 projects worth Rs 6395.27 lakh. The meeting was informed that these Languishing projects were pending completion since 2012 and on completion will provide 6 Academic Blocks; 36 Additional Classrooms; 10 Hostels for Boys/Girls; 2 residential blocksfor Staff/Faculty; 12 Library/Labs/Laboratory Blocks; 5 Science Block/Mathematics Block/PG Block and 1 Auditorium.
“This will help in increasing the enrolment of students for Higher Education besides facilitating transactions of curriculum in an effective way,” the meeting added.
