Buy costly aircraft parts only after approval: Air India

New Delhi: In line with the government’s direction to “carry out just necessary expenses”, the Air India Board has now decided that new aircraft parts worth more than Rs 10 lakh and non-aircraft parts worth more than Rs 5 lakh would now be procured only after the approval of the either Director Finance or Executive Director, Finance.

More to these, the airline in its internal advisory has also stated that in case the cost of repair parts would be more than Rs 10 lakh, it has to be first approved by the Executive Director Engineering.

This order was issued by Air India’s Director Finance Vinod Hejmadi after Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal had directed the airline to “carry out just necessary expenses”.
