NEW DELHI: Amid a raging debate over Article 35A and 370 for Jammu and Kashmir, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav today said removal of Article 370, which grants special status to the state, was the only viable solution to the decades-old problem.

Speaking about the controversy over Article 370, Ram Madhav said Article 370 must go as it acts as fodder in the hands of separatists.

He added, “Removal of Article 370 and bringing Jammu and Kashmir on par with other states is the only viable solution to the issue.”

He said this would be a befitting reply to separatists and Pakistan who are supporting and nourishing terrorism in the state and will pave the way to bring the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly those of the Valley, into the national mainstream.

He added that today large parts of the Valley are normal and peaceful. “Stone pelting has dropped. Problem confined to few districts in south Kashmir”.

Ram Madhav further said that considerable progress has been done in Jammu and Kashmir in the last five years.

“Jammu is leading a better life. The party has registered progress on the terrorism, development fronts in the state” he added.
