Bathindi’s Makkah masjid management thanks Guv for help in organising langars for stranded passengers

BATHANDI: Managing committee of Makkah Masjid, Bathandi has thanked Governor Satya Pal Malik, Red Cross, Army, Civil society and district administration Jammu for their co-operation in arranging food and accommodation for stranded passengers in Jammu.

The management committee, in a statement, said they the district administration approached them on February 12 and started diverting the stranded passengers to the mosque.

The committee, it said, organized free langar and free accommodation to thousands of stranded passengers from valley of Kashmir and other districts of Jammu province due to frequent closure of highway and other roads coupled with other law and order issues.

“Our drive was to serve the humanity during crisis irrespective of caste, creed, colour, region and religion. We have received tremendous support from all segments of society during these days, which suggests that the instinct of service of humanity can keep the flag of humanity always high,” said the statement.

It said the managing committee invited other social and religious organizations of Jammu to form a broader platform to extend helping hand to the suffering humanity in Jammu at any time in future, for which people of Jammu always remain united which they have exhibited in past and in recent crisis and resolve to do the same in future to show the world that how a responsible citizenry behaves during testing times. 

“We all are humans first and members of any religion or ethnic group at a subsequent stage. And if we can serve and save the humanity we have served all and if we fail at such crucial times, our failure shall be a reflection of our weakness despite of our inner strength, which shall be an unpardonable sin.”

“The managing committee places on record its gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for his timely support through Red cross and district administration, Jammu.”

The managing committee appreciated and expressed gratitude to the Army for their continuous support and hopes that spirit shall remain forever, added the statement.

The managing committee also appreciated the role of volunteers involved in the service and those who supported the committee by any possible means.

“The members place on record the role played by Police station Trikuta nagar under the supervision of IGP Jammu, DIG Jammu-Kathua range SSP, Jammu, SP South, SDPO narwal and SHO police station Trikuta Nagar during these days,” said the statement.
