BARAMULLA: After elapsing twenty years, the authorities have miserably failed to complete the Jetty Bridge in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, thus simultaneously leaving the locals to lurch at large.

The residents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the construction work on Jetty Bridge at Khawaja Bagh was started before 20 years, which is going on at a snail’s pace, thus causing inconvenience to the public.

They said that the construction of the bridge was resumed again in this year but had to be stopped due to lack of funds. They said the work on the bridge is going on under the supervision of J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC), which has failed to complete the bridge even after spending Crores of rupees on it during the period of last 20 years.

Pertinently, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during his visit to Baramulla on August 19 last month approved Rs 21 Crores under Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) for completion of Jetty Bridge in Baramulla district.

Officials of JKPCC told KNO that the work on the bridge was suspended due to the paucity of the funds. However, he said that the work will be resumed soon.
