Anantnag Attack: Death Toll Mounts To 6

ANANTNAG: The death toll in Anantnag attack has mounted to six after more injured paramilitary personnel succumbed, officials said.

Reports said that the militants opened fire upon police and the CRPF near Oxford School at KP road in Anantnag town resulting in death to five CRPF men and a militant.

They said that the fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering a brief gunfight.

In the incident, five CRPF men were killed and SHO Police Station Sadder Inspector Arshad Ahmad Khan was injured. Besides, a lady identified as Snobar also sustained a bullet wound in her leg, said the reports.

The slain CRPF personnel were identified as ASI Neeru Sharma, Constable Santinder Kumar, Constable M K Kushwa, ASI Ramesh Kumar and Constable Mahesh Kumar

They said that a militant was killed in the shootout. However, there was no official confirmation.
