Samba leading in Agriculture marketing activities

SAMBA: Albeit district administration samba preoccupation with the Covid-19 mitigation efforts, the agriculture sector is continuing to scale progress to new heights as orchardists are successfully growing CAAh crops and infusing much needed vigour in the sector for others to follow.

Under supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta, the agriculture marketing activities are being enchanted manifold for maximizing its reach to the far flung areas as well.

On the directions of the DC Samba, Assistant Grading and Marketing Officer Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department, today visited multi culture orchard of  Kuldeep Singh at village Penthi on Sumb road. The orchardists has been successfully growing flowers, mangoes, lemon, kinno, Mousambi, Guava, pumpkin, watermelon, Anjeer etc. in an orchard spread over fifty kanal area.

The AGMO, Anuj Verma, discussed in detail the marketing strategies adopted by   Kuldeep Singh and improvements required with regard to grading, packaging and value addition. The orchardist was also registered under E-NAM.

“Under guidance of Agriculture Farmers’ Welfare and Horticulture Department, the field functionaries are working with full zeal to increase income of farmers vertically by adopting different techniques like diversification of crops, judicious use of land including multi layer cropping, demand driven production of crops, ethical grading, innovative and presentable packaging alongwith using national on line portal for marketing of their produce using E-NAM platform” said AGMO.

The department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing has started special campaign in Samba district to register all farmers/ growers having marketable surplus under E-NAM (Electronic National Agricultural Marketing), so as to ensure them better returns of their produce in a transparent and easy manner.
