SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Saturday said that three of their leaders were detained by the police from their houses in Srinagar.

A spokesman said that Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Showkat Bakshi and Mohd Saleem Nanaji were detained by the police from their homes in Elahibagh, Bemina and Natipora respectively.

He said the leaders were detained to prevent them from leading demonstrations against the execution of Afzal Guru on his sixth death anniversary.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley as a mark of protest against Guru hanging. The call for shutdown was issued by Joint Resistance Leadership.
