RAMBAN:  Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL) in collaboration with District administration today organized a one day capacity building programme for Stamp Paper Vendors in operating the E-stamping procedure.

The training forms the pre-exercise for roll out of the Computerized Registration System in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pertinent to mention here that  to make it convenient, transparent and public friendly, the Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), the agency mandated by the Centre to act as the apex record keeping agency for rolling out E-stamping.

While interacting with the participants,  Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC),  Ashok Sharma said that the E-stamping is electronically generated stamp paper, which could be used by the registrant public as a safe and secure method of paying stamp duty for any purpose without physical purchase of stamp paper.

The E-stamping facility will not only benefit the public for a hassle-free payment of stamp duty, but the government shall also benefit out of it, as it would save the cost of printing, storage and transportation of stamp papers, he added.

Master Trainer Amit Bhat from SHCIL apprised the stamp vendors that the e-stamping procedure is secure, cheaper, time-saving and reliable, compared to the existing system, where you need to buy stamp papers for any kind of registration.

He said that the Government would provide the location based user IDs to licensed stamp vendors as per list provided by the Registrars and Sub- registrars.

During the interaction session vendors raised their queries regarding the new system and resource persons have cleared their doubts on the spot.
