Avian Influenza mitigation measures reviewed at Bla

BARAMULLA: The District Administration Baramulla under the chairmanship of Acting Deputy Commissioner also Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraaf today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to take stock of various mitigation measures taken by the administration to control the spread of Avian Influenza in the district.

The meeting was convened with an aim to avert any kind of eventuality that may arise after a sample of a dead crow from Hardushiva, Sopore was declared positive for Avian Influenza virus.

On the occasion, a threadbare discussion on the subject was held wherein the ADC directed the concerned authorities to strengthen surveillance mechanisms in affected areas so that appropriate measures are taken in case of any exigency.

He also directed to conduct random sampling and stressed for coordinated efforts in intensifying surveillance within the notified zones.

The ADDC directed the concerned to ensure that the requisite guidelines issued, are followed in letter and spirit to safeguard the lives of poultry birds and humans from the infection.

Meanwhile, it was informed that the affected area, Hardushiva Sopore, within the radius of 10 km has been declared as an ‘Alert Zone’ in which several mitigation measures have been lined up besides disinfection process shall be carried out by the concerned authorities.
