ANANTNAG: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was killed in a militant attack today in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

CRPF spokesman Pankaj Singh told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the militants, who attacked the CRPF party, had earlier lobbed a grenade at the forces personnel, which, however, failed to explode.

“A few minutes after hurling the grenade, the militants fired at the CRPF party indiscriminately in which a CRPF man was critically injured,” he said. Singh said the injured CRPF man was immediately removed to the hospital, but he succumbed on way.  “The slain CRPF man was identified as head constable Shiv Lal Netam, a resident of Chattisgarh. He was part of 90 battalion CRPF,” Singh said.

Soon after the attack, security forces cordoned off the entire area and a massive manhunt was launched to nab the attackers.
