Zewan residents demand resumption of work on power receiving station

PANTHA CHOWK: Local residents of Zewan area of Srinagar outskirts have appealed to authorities of PDD to resume work on under construction receiving station at Zewan Bala.

The residents said that a receiving station was sanctioned for the area at Zewan Bala and work on it started in 2012. He said that they brought this issue into the notice of BJP leader Er Ajaz Hussain.

The residents sought his intervention towards the under construction electricity receiving station at Zewan Bala.

Ghulam Rasool Bhat, a local resident of Zewan said that the work was suspended in 2015 due to reasons best known to higher authorities.

“Successive governments don’t bother to complete the project,” he said, adding 50 percent of work has been completed and 50 percent is still pending. He said that due to non completion of the project they have been made to suffer.

He said that they brought this issue into the notice of BJP leader and DDC member Er Aijaz Hussain and hope that he will seek a redress of their grievance.

After visiting the site at Zewan Bala, Er Aijaz Hussain told Kashmir Reader that the receiving station will improve the electricity scenario in the area including surrounding villages of Zawoora, Zewan, Panthachowk, Aripora, and Vashnambal area.

” This is a big issue for residents, I demand authorities of PDD to look into the reasons due to which the work on the project remains suspended,” he said.

He appealed to them to complete the construction work as soon as possible.

He said that the work is pending due to shortage of funds. ” I request the Principal Secretary or Commissioner Secretary PDD to show the receiving station in languishing projects or new scheme augmentation,” he said.

He hoped that the work on the project would resume as soon as possible.
