Yuwa Sahitya event held at KU

Srinagar: An event on ‘Yuwa Sahitya’ was held at the University of Kashmir (KU) today on Saturday.

The event was organised by the Department of Linguistics, KU, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.

According to the organisers of the event the aim of the program  was to provide a platform to the young writers of Kashmiri to present their literature.

Dr Aziz Hajni, Convenor, Sahitya Akademi, presented the welcome address.

In his address , he said, “Literature produced in contemporary times is sensationalist and exaggerated. We see a ray of hope in our young generation to change this narrative and to preserve our language and culture.”

He also said that  in collaboration with the department more events would be organised.

Other distinguished guests present on the occasion included Dr Sadaf Munshi, Chairperson of Linguistics Department, University of North Texas, Prof Bashar Bashir and Prof Farooq Fayaz.

Prof Aejaz  Mohammad Sheikh, Head Department of Linguistics presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
