Youth hit by pellets during clashes in south Kashmir’s Tral

Tral: A youth sustained pellet injuries in his eyes during clashes with the government forces near Bus Stand in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

The injured was shifted to SDH Tral where he is under treatment.

As per reports forces’ vehicles were coming from Arigam when youths pelted them with stones near Bus Stand Tral. 

The forces retaliated by lobbing tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesting youth.

Earlier, the government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Arigam village of the area.

Sources said that army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched the joint operation in the area.

They said that massive deployment of forces has been made in the village and house-to-house searches were going on.

An official said that the operation was launched following “specific inputs” about the presence of militants in the area.

The searches were going on when this report was being filed.
