JAMMU: As part of World Heritage Week, the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums J&K on Friday organized a Workshop and Training Programme on Conservation and Preservation of Heritage Sites and Monuments at IIIM Jammu.
The session was chaired by Director AA&M, K.K. Sidha with Dr. Zabeer Ahmad, Director IIIM Jammu as Guest of Honour.
The workshop was attended by ADDCs & a Team of Trainers (10 member team of Engineers of PW(R&B) Department of each District of Jammu Division.
Key presentations included “Heritage Values and Architectural Approaches for Preservation” by Ar. Aditya K. Singh; “Conservation Pathways and Restoration Progress in J&K” by K.K. Sidha and “Restoration Workflow and Challenges” by Fayaz Ahmad Shah of ASI Srinagar Circle. A case study presentation was delivered by Ar Abhiney Gupta of SMVDU. Experts, Engineers and faculty members actively participated.
The participants appreciated the first of its kind initiative of the Department and asserted that this will certainly strengthen the approach of PW(R&B) Department towards conservation & preparation of DPR thereof.
