Work to begin soon on Srinagar Metro project, says J&K govt spokesman

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said the work on the Srinagar Metro project will start soon.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Principal Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, Rohit Kansal, who is also the State Govt Spokesperson, said the work will begin soon on the project.

He said HMT, Indra Nagar and Hazuri Bagh will be connected with the metro rail in the first phase.

Last month, DC Srinagar had said that the project is 100 percent externally funded and will have 24 stations. “Srinagar Metro. 100% externally funded project. Completion in 4 years from commencement. 24 stations. Preliminary survey done,” he had tweeted.

The Rs 15881 crore Srinagar Metro Project, allotted to RITES, was scheduled to commence from April 1, 2017.
