KU-DLSA organise webinar on drug abuse

SRINAGAR: The University of Kashmir on Wednesday hosted a webinar on drug abuse.

The webinar was organised jointly by the varsity’s Centre for Women’s Studies and Research (CWSR) and District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Srinagar under the patronage of Secretary DLSA Srinagar and Sub-Judge, Mr Noor Mohammad.

In her opening remarks, Coordinator CWSR Prof Tabasum Firdous said that drug abuse has become a “modern day devil” which is creating havoc across all sections of the society.

“The main objective of this webinar is to generate awareness on the menace of drug abuse, which is on rise in Jammu and Kashmir,” she said.

Advocate Naveed Gul and Psychologist Laila Qureshi were the resource persons for the webinar, who explained how to deal with various aspects of drug abuse prevalent in the society.

Advocate Amtul Basit Deva—moderator and speaker—welcomed the guests and expressed her gratitude to CWSR-DLSA teams for putting in their best efforts to make the webinar a success.

She said more such collaborative webinars should be organized to share knowledge and raise awareness about drug abuse and also provide a platform to research scholars and students to speak on various aspects of the issue.
