Urs of Sheikh-ul-Aalam commences at Charar-e-Sharief Budgam

BUDGAM: The annual Urs of Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) commenced at Charar-e-Sharief in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Younis Ahmad Haji Mutawali Ziyarat said that the day is observed as death anniversary of the holy saint and every year on this day, the sacred cloth covering the tomb of the Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) shrine is changed with great respect.

“Annual Urs of sheikh Noor-ud-din Wali also known as Alamdar-e-Kashmir will be observed at Central Kashmir’s Charar-e-sharief on 14 October (26 Saffar). Thousands of devotees from different areas of Valley will participate in the holy event of cloth Changing (PoshakBandi). Also, special prayers will be held at the shrine throughout the day,” he added.

Many officials visited Charar-i-Sharief shrine and took stock of the arrangements made for smooth conduct of annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-din Wali (RA) and directed departments to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the town and vicinity areas during the Urs days.

President of Municipality Charar-i-Sharief also visited the shrine and directed to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness and ensure regular lifting of garbage from the shrine area.
