ISLAMABAD: Pakistani batsman Asif Ali who lost his 2-year-old daughter, Noor Fatima, to Stage Four cancer on Monday, 20 May, received condolences on his social media platforms from across the world.

But amid all the supportive responses, there was one tweet that left everyone shocked and fuming.

The user, who goes by the name ‘Akshay_vaishnav’ on Twitter, tweeted in response to Ali’s daughter’s death, “Congratulations. The world has one less terrorist.”

The tweet received a lot of backlash as Twitter users called him out for his distasteful response to the news of a child’s death.

Following the backlash, the man has deleted his Twitter account.

Asif Ali is set to return to Pakistan to attend his child’s funeral and will join the team ahead of the World Cup starting from 30 May.

“We are with Asif in this tough time. He will return to Pakistan and then go back before the warm-up matches.”
