No traffic movement permitted between Nashri,Qazigund for 5 hrs starting 10 am: Police

Traffic department authorities said that in wake of fair weather and road condition Amarnath Yatra Convoy will be allowed from Nashri towards Qazigund and vice versa at 10 am.

According to the advisory of the traffic department, RFID fitted Yatri Vehicles/Non-local tourist vehicles ( who is not part of Yatra convoy ) from Nashri towards Qazigund and vice versa 1100 hours.

The advisory said the Vehicles will be allowed to ply on the highway with some restrictions.

“The cut-off timing for travel in Nashri-Qazigund 1000 hrs to 1400 hrs and 1100hrs to 1500 hrs respectively,” said the advisory.

“No Yatri vehicle/non-local tourists vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timings from Nashri and Qazigund,” it said.

“No movement of any type of Vehicle shall be allowed between Nashri and Qazigund stretch during restricted hours ( viz 1000  hrs 1500 hrs),” it added.

“Security Forces Convoy shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu (down Convoy),” said the advisory.

“LMVs (Private/Commercial) from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa from Nagrota (Jammu ) 1400 hrs to 1700 hrs and from Udhampur 1530 hrs to 1900 hrs,” it said.

It said that the LMVs will have to cross Pantha Chowk Srinagar from 1:30 pm to 04:30 Pm and from Qazigund 03:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

“Only stranded HMVs ( Load Carriers)  from Jammu towards Srinagar will have to cross Jakheni (Udhampur) from 05:00 pm to 10:00 pm,” he said, adding no traffic will be allowed after the cutoff time from these checkpoints.

On the Mughal Road, the advisory states, that subject to fair weather and clearance of road LMVs shall be allowed both ways from Srinagar towards Jammu and vice versa via Shopian- Mughal Road- Rajouri (144-A).

These vehicles shall be allowed from 0500 hrs to 0900 hrs from Behramgalla and Hirpora. However, HMV’s shall be allowed one way only from 1200 hrs to 1800 hrs from Jammu towards Srinagar from Barahmgalla.

It states that no vehicle shall be allowed after cut of timings.

For Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road, traffic advisory states that vehicular movement shall be allowed both ways from Kargil towards Srinagar and vice versa.

LMVs from 0500 hrs to 0900 hrs and HMVs from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs shall be allowed from Minimarg towards Srinagar and LMVs from 1300 hrs to 1500 hrs. & HMVs from 1500 hrs to 1800 hrs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil.

People have been advised to undertake the journey on National Highway/Mughal Road/SSG Road only after confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091), Ramban (9419993745), Udhampur (8491928625), Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732).

According to the advisory, these are the locations where RFID is fitted without cost; 1. Lakhanpur in Kathua, 2. Airport, 3. Railway Station, 4. Bus stand Jammu, 5. Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar, 6. Ban Toll Plaza in Jammu, 7. Chaneni – Nashri Tunnel in Udhampur.

“No movement of any type of HMV shall be allowed from the opposite direction,” said the advisory.

Earlier Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan said that there is no blanket ban on the movement of civil traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway during the Amarnath Yatra movement.

“In the last few days, there is a buzz on social media and other platforms about blanket ban highway for civilian traffic. I want to make it clear that there was no ban on civilian movement during the Amarnath Yatra but only traffic regulation,” Khan said while addressing a press conference in Srinagar.
