Thousands attend last rites of slain militants in north Kashmir’s Sopore

SOPORE: Thousands of people on Thursday attended the funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, Owais Ahmad Bhat and Tahir Ramzan Dar, slain in an overnight gunfight in Brath Kalan area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said a large number of people from Zaingeer belt of Sopore including Brath Kalan, Saidpora, Dangarpora and other adjoining localities assembled at the native villages as the news of their death spread.

They said that thousands of mourners raised pro-freedom slogans as they marched with the bodies of the slain duo at their native villages.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed across the Sopore town and its adjacent areas soon after the news of the gunfight and the subsequent killing of the militants spread in the area.
