PULWAMA: Thousands of people on Monday attended the last rites of a civilian who was killed after militants attacked an army camp in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district last night.

An eyewitness said that thousands attended the funeral of Bilal Ahmad Ganie at his native Narwa village of the district.

Mourners raised pro-freedom slogans as his body was being marched towards a ground where his funeral prayers were offered.

Ganie, a driver by profession, was killed in an exchange of fire between militants and the army at Kakapora around 10:15 pm last night.

He was critically injured after suffering a bullet injury in his head, following which he was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed.
