NEW DELHI: Hours after the two militants were killed in a pre-dawn encounter in Shopian this morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “This is my Clean-up operation.”
“Since I came to Kashmir, every second or third day, clean-up takes place. This is my clean-Up Operation.” Modi said while campaigning in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.
He added that the army cannot wait for the Election Commission’s clearance to take action against militants.
The encounter had taken place during a search operation at Satipora area of Shopian district in South Kashmir this morning.
“They (militants) were standing in front (army) with bombs and guns. Would my jawans go to the Election Commission to ask for permission to shoot? asked PM Modi.
