SRINAGAR: In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the district and municipal administration on Monday carried out a comprehensive joint inspection of key essential establishments, with special focus on major healthcare institutions and critical road networks across the city.
The inspection covered vital healthcare facilities, including Lal Ded Maternity Hospital and SMHS Hospital, along with major and interior roads such as Boulevard Road, Gupkar Road, and areas via Dargah Hazratbal, to assess ground-level preparedness and response mechanisms.
The visit was undertaken by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Aadil Fareed, along with the Joint Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Suhail ul Islam and the Chief Planning Officer, Srinagar, Fayaz Ahmad.
The team was accompanied by the Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B), Srinagar, Tatheer Manzoor, Executive Engineers of the Civil and Mechanical Divisions, and other concerned officers.
During the inspection, the officers reviewed snow clearance operations, dewatering arrangements, and the availability of essential services and supplies to ensure uninterrupted functioning of critical healthcare facilities. Special attention was given to mechanical installations supporting hospital operations at SMHS and Lal Ded Hospital. The team also visited the Mechanical Division Control Room at Shalteng to assess operational readiness.
The joint inspection was conducted under the overall direction and supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Akshay Labroo and the Commissioner, SMC, Faz Lul Haseeb as part of a coordinated strategy to ensure continuity of essential services, safeguard public convenience, and maintain readiness during adverse weather conditions.
