Snow, Rain Expected on Higher Reaches of J&K: MeT

Srinagar: Meteorological department on Wednesday predicted that there would be intermittent light to moderate rain, snow over higher reaches of J&K during 4th night and 5th of this month.

A weatherman in an update said that widespread intermittent light to moderate rain, snow is expected to fall over the higher reaches of J&K during Thursday night and Friday.  

In the wake of the weather prediction coming true, the official has also said that it may led to temporary disruption of surface transportation on Zojila, Mughal Road, Banihal-Ramban Axis, Sinthan Top and others. 

However, with the prediction of snow, rain by MeT, it was also said that there is no forecast of any major snowfall till 10th of this month in J&K. 

It is pertinent to mention that last time MeT had predicted the snowfall over higher reaches with rain over plains and the same was later observed. The snowfall had also wrecked damage to apple trees in some areas of south Kashmir’s Shopian. 

But this time MeT has not warned of anything except the disruption of road traffic on major thoroughfares due to snowfall, which the MeT has predicted to fall.
