Shopkeeper shot dead in Tral, driver injured in Kakapora

PULWAMA: A shopkeeper was shot dead while as a sumo driver was shot at by the unknown gunmen on Thursday evening in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), identified the slain shopkeeper as Muhammad Ayoub Ahanger, son of Ghulam Ahmad Ahanger of Tral, saying that he was fired upon by the unknown gunmen, resulting serious wounds to him.

Soon after the incident, officials said he was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. They said the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, a sumo driver was also shot at by unknown gunmen in Wanpora area of Kakapora belt in South Kashmir’ Pulwama district, officials said and identified the injured as Muhammad Aslam Wani (30) of Wanpora, Pulwama.

Wani was taken to nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment, an official said, adding that the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
