RS passes J&K re-organisation (Amendment) bill 2021

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha Monday cleared the Jammu and Kashmir re-organisation (Amendment) Bill 2021 that seeks to replace the ordinance to merge J&K civil services officers with AGMUT cadre, the bill a week back was introduced by MoS Home GK Reddy.

Addressing the house, MoS Home, GK Reddy as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the Indian constitution is now fully applicable in Jammu and Kashmir and all central laws are made applicable while the merging of cadre is a step towards the development of J&K. 

He said that after the abrogation of Article 370, it’s for the very first time all central laws are implemented in Jammu and Kashmir and the discriminate categories have been given equal rights.

The MoS Home said that in the 2019 reorganization act on 31st October the Jammu and Kashmir with legislature and Ladakh as separate UT without Legislature. “Both the UT’s have been fully intrigued with India under one nation one constitution with holistic development”, he said.

He said with this 2021 re-organisation (Amendment) Bill will increase the strength of officers in the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and it’s is a step towards prosperity. He said around 170 central laws are being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. 

“The bill will enable the availability of officers in Jammu and Kashmir who have experience in running union territory administration, he said.
