NEW DELHI: From Independence Day, motorists who frequently use national highways will have the option of a prepaid, flat-rate travel scheme under a new FASTag annual pass launched by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Priced at Rs 3,000, the pass will allow up to 200 toll crossings or remain valid for one year from activation, whichever comes first.

According to a gazette notification, the scheme is open to owners of private, non-commercial vehicles with a valid and functional FASTag. The pass will be accepted at all fee plazas on national highways, regardless of individual toll rates. It will not be issued for FASTags registered solely with a chassis number; the vehicle’s registration number must be updated to activate the facility.

Officials said applications must be accompanied by the vehicle’s registration certificate, a passport-size photograph of the owner, KYC details as per category and proof of identity and address. The pass can be purchased both online and offline. Online purchases may be made via the NHAI website, the Rajmargyatra mobile application, e-commerce portals and through partner banks such as Paytm Payments Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.

Activation will be available only through the Rajmargyatra app or the NHAI website. Once the vehicle and FASTag eligibility are verified, users can make the Rs 3,000 payment for the 2025-26 base year through these platforms. The annual pass will typically be activated within two hours of payment confirmation.

The facility is aimed at easing toll plaza congestion, reducing travel time and offering savings to regular highway users.
