Portugal: Already considered a large-hearted person, Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly donated $1.5 million (£1.18m) to help feed starving people on the Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan, according to reports.

The soccer player has always been close to the Palestinian cause and has, in several occasions, publicly denounced Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinians. He has made big contributions to charity before as well.

Back in 2012, Ronaldo reported to have auctioned the European Golden Boot he won in 2011 to raise 1.5 million Euros to a cause supporting Palestine children.

The following year, in March 2013, refused to swipe t-shirts with an Israeli player after a World Cup qualifier between Portugal and Israel.

Ronaldo met 5-year-old boy Ahmad Daubasha — sole survivor of an attack by illegal Israeli settlers, as he gave the young boy a specially-dedicated t-shirt.

Ronaldo is known as one of the most generous and charitable athletes in world sport who likes to donate money for noble causes. The Portuguese icon was named “World’s Most Charitable Sportsperson.”
