Kansal asks PDD to ensure prompt response to public complaints

Reviews power supply scenario in Jammu Division

JAMMU: Principal Secretary Power Development Department (PDD), Rohit Kansal today convened an emergent meeting with the senior Engineers of the Department to meet out the complaints of the electricity consumers and review the electricity supply scenario in Jammu division.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, M&RE, Jammu, Executive Engineers, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Vijaypur.

Kansal directed the concerned XENs to promptly respond to the complaints of the power consumers so that they do not face inconvenience in the present hot and humid conditions. He directed the department to immediately establish a complaint cell in every sub-division and strengthen the complaint mechanism to provide prompt relief to the people.

He also directed for consolidating the data regarding the complaints received    and those solved. He directed to inform the people about the scheduled power cuts and take measures to avoid prolonged outages.

The Chief Engineer apprised the Principal Secretary about the need for strengthening the technical field staff to facilitate proper maintenance of power distribution system. He also apprised about the enhanced load and frequent breakdowns due to extra load in the summer season.

Kansal directed the concerned to maintain the   division wise data of electricity consumption in the month of May, June, July, August and compare it with the previous year’s data to ascertain the scale of power supply required for providing 24X7 electricity. 

He also directed for preparing complete data about the number of transformers damaged and repaired, besides accurate amount of revenue generated at division level. He directed the Chief Engineer and executive engineers to hold weekly meetings with the field staff to register the monthly improvement.
