‘Road Safety Awareness Training’ for LL seekers begins at Kulgam

KULGAM: In a bid to impart sense of road safety among commuters, drivers and riders in the district, MVD Kulgam in collaboration with District Information Centre, Kulgam on Saturday launched a new initiative ‘Road Safety Awareness Training’ as part of celebration of National Road Safety Month.

During this programme all Learner License (LL) and Driving License seekers will get refresher training from MVD officials.

The Safety instructors Mansoor Ahmad , Manzoor Ahmad and Suraj Kumar Pandita (Motor Vehicle Inspectors) took the LL applicants through a theory session on road rules, road signs and marking, riding gear and posture explanation and safe driving practices.

The applicants for a learning licence took training in batches for the training class. On completion of the class, they were allowed to take the online LLR test in the computer lab.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kulgam, Dr Mohammad Zubair  Lattoo said that in Kashmir, awareness of correct and safe riding technique is  a humongous  challenge. So to aware the public about safer road techniques will change their attitude while on the roads.

He said the new road safety awareness training programme is unique as it merges education with enforcement and now, all new Learner License/Driving License seekers will get basic training on defensive driving, traffic rules, road signs and necessary safety measures to be a responsible road user. This will result in significant fall in road related accidents.
