RAMBAN: As part of ongoing International Women’s Day 2026 celebrations, the district administration today organized a grand event in Ramban which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan and witnessed enthusiastic participation from women officers, students, social workers besides representatives from different departments.
The programme was held under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for all Women and Girls,” emphasizing structural, legal and actionable equality for women across all sections of society. Simultaneously, the campaign theme “Give To Gain” emphasizes mentorship, investment and collaboration to create a multiplier effect for women’s success.
ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak, DSWO Sahil Bhagotra, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Harish Chander, Tehsildar Headquarters Reejuta Mahajan, BDO Headquarters Shalini Chandial, Dy. SP Operations Manisha Malhotra and several other senior officers attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner extended warm greetings to all women and girls on the occasion of International Women’s Day and appreciated their invaluable contribution to society and nation building.
He emphasized that women empowerment is the cornerstone of inclusive and sustainable development and advised the parents to focus on overall development of the girls to ensure equal opportunities, safety, education and economic empowerment for women in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted various flagship programmes and welfare initiatives launched by the Government and urged the participants to avail the benefits of these schemes and work collectively towards building a more equitable and progressive society.
Earlier, Tehsildar Headquarters, BDO Headquarters and Dy. SP Operations, who were the special speakers on the occasion, highlighted the importance of creating a society where both men and women enjoy equal rights, dignity and opportunities.
Adding vibrancy to the celebration, students from different schools and local artists presented a colourful cultural bonanza, showcasing songs, dances and performances dedicated to women empowerment.
On the occasion, the district administration felicitated several women achievers for their outstanding contributions in different fields besides distributing sewing machines among the women beneficiaries. Certificates and trophies were distributed among the participants in recognition of their achievements and active involvement in the celebrations.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to continue working towards strengthening the rights, dignity and empowerment of women and girls across the district.
