Justice Rajesh Bindal appointed as Chief Justice of J&K, Ladakh

SRINAGAR: The President of India Tuesday appointed senior-most judge, Justice Rajesh Bindal as acting chief justice of the common high court of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

In an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) , the Centre ordered  that Justice Rajesh Bindal will perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of the High Court from December 09, consequent upon the retirement of Kumari Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice, common High Court of the UTs.

“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Rajesh Bindal, senior-most Judge of Common High Court for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh,” read the order.

The order further states that he will perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of the  High Court with effect from December 09.
