PULWAMA: Protests were held in Drabgam village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday against the government forces for allegedly vandalizing the grave of slain Hizb ul-Mujahideen commander Sameer ‘Tiger’.

“After coming out of mosque following the early morning prayers we found the headstone of Sameer Tiger’s grave was damaged. The banners covering the grave were also torn to shreds,” said a local.

The locals alleged that the government forces vandalized the grave of ‘Tiger’ at the martyrs’ graveyard in the village. Sameer was killed along with an associate in a gunfight with the government forces on April 30.

Youth hit and streets and held a strong protest as the word spread in the area, said a witness, adding that the protesters were marching towards the Tehsil headquarter Rajpur.
