Process for SSR kick-started at Kulgam

KULGAM: The process for registration of eligible/ new voters, removal of entries of dead and permanently shifted electors, correction of errors in elector’s details has been kick-started under special summary revision (SSR), 2022 across district Kulgam.

With an aim to build participative democracy and raise awareness regarding voter literacy, the District Election Office Kulgam today organized a SVEEP programme at Government Degree College Kulgam.

The awareness programme was presided over by District Election Officer (DEO) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat.

A large number of students from college participated in this programme.

During the daylong programme, awareness was raised among newly eligible voters, whose age is 18 years or above as on 01 October, 2022 to enroll themselves in the Photo Electoral Roll, 2022 during the special summary revision 2022. They were also urged to share the message among their friends and relatives.

Addressing the gathering, the DEO highlighted the value of vote and the role of voters in the democratic set up of the Government. He stated that vote has empowered people and urged upon all the eligible persons to get enrolled and become part in strengthening democratic values of the Nation.

He instructed the concerned to ensure registration of all eligible persons who attain the age of 18 years for active participation in the electoral process.

DEO said that under special summary revision 2022 which started across the district today on 15th of September registration of eligible voters, removal of entries of dead and permanently shifted Electors, Correction of errors in elector’s details will be carried out.

He also added that the claims and objections under special summary revision 2022 can be filed from 15-09-2022 to 25-10-2022 and the final electoral Roll shall be published on 25-11-2022.

Dy- DEO Kulgam said that the programme was organized to reach out to the new voters for their enrollment in electoral rolls to make them able to take part in the democratic process.

ADC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; Dy-DEO, Bilal Ahmad Kamgar; Principal GDC, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Lone and other officers also participated in this programme.
