KULGAM: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a special checkpoint was established at Okay Kulagm under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam Shri Ghulam Muhamad Bhat-JKPS. During checking a suspicious person carrying a gunny bag was intercepted, he has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Okey Kulgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 500gms of Charas and 5kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 202/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
