Awantipora: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a three drug peddlers in two different instances in Awantipora and recovered contraband/psychotropic substance from their possession.
Awantipora police arrested two drug peddlers identified as Gh Mohi-ud-din Bhat @ Cheeni son of Gh Mohd resident of Tral Bala & Feroze Ahmad Pinchoo son of Ab Ahad Pinchoo resident of Jawberra Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Kharmoad. 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in two polythene bags were recovered from their possession.
At another instance, a police party of Police Station Awantipora at a checking point established at Padgampora arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Aziz Dar son of Abdul Razaq resident of Kharmod Awantipora. On search 05 Kgs of grinded Cannabis concealed in a bag was recovered from his possession.
The arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 25/2022 and 26/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora & investigation have been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.Attachments area
