Police arrests 03 drug peddlers in Anantnag and Handwara; Contraband substances recovered

Anantnag: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag & Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Anantnag, a Police party from Police Station Mattan at a checkpoint established at Bumzu Mattan intercepted two persons identified as Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Gh Nabi Wani resident of Khanwadi Mattan and Wajid Ahmad Paddar son of Bashir Ahmed Paddar resident of Bumzu Mattan. During search, 16 Codeine phosphate bottles and 75 strips of Spasmoproxyvon tablets were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Similarly in Handwara, officers from Police Station Kralagund at a checkpoint established at Ganapora Crossing intercepted a person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Ab Aziz resident of Drangsoo Qalamabad who was moving in a suspicious condition. During checking, huge quantity of contraband tablets were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

         Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
