KULGAM: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested two drug smugglers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Qaimoh led by SHO PS Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Khudwani Crossing intercepted a tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK01V-3770 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mohd Shariq Shah son of Ghulam Jeelani Shah resident of Heshipora Chadoora & Sajad Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Amin Malik resident of Nowpora Chadoora. On checking, 10 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 92/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qaimoh and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
