NRLM–UMEED joint awareness programme held for  Latti-A, Chapper-A Panchayats

UDHAMPUR: A joint awareness programme was today organized under NRLM–UMEED at Panchayat Latti-A and Chapper-A.

The officials imparted awareness about nutrition and the Social Welfare Department schemes implemented through Anganwadi Centres.

It was informed that MGNREGA has now been renamed as “Viksit Bharat (VB–GRAMG)”, under  a new Act  implemented in the year 2025, and the provision of wage employment in rural areas has been increased from 100 days to 125 days.

The officials further shared that the Minister of Rural Development (MoRD),  Shivraj Singh Chauhan, extended New Year greetings to all SHG Didis across the country. “He also conveyed   that no Panchayat and  household shall remain unconnected with NRLM SHGs. His vision is to ensure that every household woman joins NRLM and becomes self-reliant,” the officials added.

Additionally, detailed discussions were held on livelihood opportunities for NRLM SHG women, banking linkage and benefits of government schemes. The key focus of the programme was to ensure NRLM coverage of every household in both Panchayats, motivate more women to join SHGs and enable them to avail maximum benefits of government schemes.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Kirpal Singh Block Programme Manager, Block Dudu–Basantgarh and attended by Block Master Auditor, Cluster Coordinator, Community Mobilisers from all VOs of both Panchayats, NRLM staff Ex-Sarpanches and the Lambardar of Panchayat Latti-A also participated in the programme.
