Multipurpose Sports Indoor Hall Nilandrusu at Bijbehara thrown open to public

ANANTNAG: The opening ceremony of multipurpose indoor Sports hall Nilandrusu, Bijbehara Anantnag was held today.

The SDM Bijbehara Muhammad Saleem Jahangir presided over the function as chief guest and Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council and Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Tehsildar Bijbehara were guest of honour on the occasion.

Sports enthusiasts in large numbers flocked to the venue. The function also marked the throwing open of facility to the players in the sports disciplines of Volleyball, Pencak silat, Wrestling and Badminton.

Around 200 players, both boys and girls from these respective sports disciplines were also present on the occasion.

Terming this as a welcome step to promote the sports in its true sense, SDM Bijbehara hoped that the players will use the facilities to hone their skills and represent union territory of J&K at the highest level and bring laurels to both the J&K and country:

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council informed the participants that the training classes in the disciplines of Pencak silat and Badminton shall start soon followed by training classes in other games.

Secretary Sports Council who is the overall incharge of the activities and sports infrastructure development J&K Sports Council informed that the multipurpose indoor hall in Nillandrusu Bijbehara has been constructed under PMDP programme and it shall cater to varied sports disciplines in future and as and when required, the facility shall be subsequently upgraded to bring it at par with the higher standards.

Joint Secretary also informed the participants that the incharge multipurpose hall has been directed to start the process of registration and all the interested players can contact the concerned official on 9682128328 for further details

In addition to large number of participants various other officers including Sports Officer Central, J&K Sports Council Nusrat Gazala, Incharge Multipurpose Hall Pologround, Srinagar Muhammad Iqbal and Incharge Anantnag Stadium Muhammad Amin besides other officials from the district were also present on the occasion.
