SRINAGAR: The holy month of Ramadhan will begin from Tuesday as the crescent moon has not been sighted today.

Markazi Royat-e-Hilal Committee Jama Masjid, in a statement, said that the moon was not sighted in the capital and other areas.

Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Pakistan Mufti Muneebur Rehman also announced that the moon for the month of Ramadhan was not sighted on Sunday, and that the holy month will begin from Tuesday.

“No acceptable and Shariah-compliant testimonies of moon sighting were received from any part of Pakistan,” said Rehman, according to Dawn News. “This was a decision taken through mutual cooperation and after [incorporating] expert advice,” he said.
