Militant killing triggers clashes in Pulwama town in south Kashmir

PULWAMA: The killing of a militant in a shootout with the government forces triggered violent protests in Pulwama town in south Kashmir on Friday.

Reports said that youth took to streets and hurled stones on the forces deployed in the town soon after the news of killing of Ishfaq Wani of Koil village reached there.

The forces responded by firing tear gas, triggering further clashes.

Wani, who was part of a militant group that attacked an army patrolling party in Rinzipora area of Awantipora today morning, was killed in the ensuing shootout.

Quoting sources, news agency GNS reported that two other militants managed to escape from the spot after the shootout.
