DDC inaugurates the event; says, initiative focuses on youth empowerment

KUPWARA: A mega Entrepreneurship Mela under Mission YUVA was organised on Saturday at Town Hall Handwara to sensitise and engage the potential entrepreneurs of Kupwara district.

Mega event focusing on mobilising youth and promoting entrepreneurial mindset, facilitated direct interaction with key stakeholders and real time on-boarding onto Mission YUVA platforms, was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan in presence of Vice Chairman District Development Council Kupwara, Haji Farooq Mir and DDC members.

The event featured screening of promotional videos, practical training, including a live demo of the Mission YUVA app, which simplifies the process of registering and tracking entrepreneurial ventures.

Resource persons explained the programme eligibility and its benefits, while successful entrepreneurs shared their journeys, struggles, and growth to the participants.

The mega event engaged hundreds of people, most of them potential entrepreneurs including men and women.

Addressing the gathering, District Development Commissioner Kupwara said, “The aim of organising this mela was to ignite entrepreneurial spirit, provide information on government support, and inspire self-reliance among youth through interactive sessions and success stories.

She said Mission YUVA initiative focuses on various aspects of youth empowerment, including entrepreneurship, skill development, and career support.

She also said that on the basis of the YUVA survey, the government has devised this Nano-enterprise scheme under the umbrella of Mission YUVA. While urging the potential entrepreneurs, DC said that youth can establish any unit depending upon their skill.

Ayushi said that it is a big opportunity for the youth of Kupwara district especially for women potential enterprises. She added, “Women should take benefit of YUVA Mission as women have several incentives including 30 percent subsidy compared to men’s 25 percent subsidy under mission”.

She urged women of Kupwara district to actively avail themselves of various existing government schemes aimed at their empowerment, entrepreneurship encouraging them to become self-reliant and lead a dignified life.

DDC said that successful entrepreneurs of Kupwara district serve as our role models, inspiring others to dream big, take risks, and create meaningful change.

Earlier, DDC inspected the stalls of different departments and distributed the certificates among the entrepreneurs.

Mega event was attended by DDC member Nutnoosa, Adv Zahoor; DDC member Rajwar, Muhammad Salman Mir; DDC member Mawar, Khurshid Ahmed; ADDC Kupwara, Mufti Fareed Ud-Din; ADC Handwara, Javid Ahmed Masoodi; GM DIC, Sameer Jan and other officers.

Later, DDC visited ADC Complex Handwara and inspected ongoing developmental work there.
